Watercolor with Wink of Stella

Have you tried to watercolor with the Wink of Stella bush pens?  I saw Jennifer Mcguire do it on a few different cards and wanted to give it a try.  So here is my result using the clear brush pen:

You've got this thank you card

The shimmer doesn’t photograph very well, but the flower petals really shine IRL. To compliment the shimmer, I used metallic silver thread in loops behind the circle and silver sequins.  It really is quite lovely, if I do say so myself.  The sentiment is from a Simon Says Stamp set.  I thought this bold sentiment balanced well with the delicate lines of the flower.

Would you be interested in trying this watercolor technique?  I say, give it a try!

My Favorite new In Color is . . .

I’d have to say my favorite is Tip Top Taupe.  It has a great name AND is an awesome neutral color.  But I like it as a feature color as well :).

I used the Brushstrokes background stamp to create the gingham effect.

The Tip Top Taupe Dotted Lace Trim adds a bit of flare.

And I just can’t get enough of the butterflies from the Watercolor Wings stamp set and butterfly thinlits!  I don’t remember using butterflies so much in my crafting, ever.  Sorry if I seem to overuse them in my projects, but I just love them so much!

Butterflies make me happy!

One of the first items that caught my eye in the new catalog was the Watercolor Wings bundle.  First of all, I adore bundles because they save me 15%!  Who doesn’t like to save money!?! Then, of course, butterflies simply make me happy :).  They remind me of summer fun and beautiful flowers that attract butterflies.  I’ve had the bundle for a few weeks now and finally made a card with it!  Not sure why it took me so long, but I can guarantee I will be using it again very very soon!  Isn’t this card CAUUTE!?!

It’s for my niece :).  I hope she likes it.  But how can she not? It just looks so happy to me!signature2

My Favorite new stamp set in the upcoming catalog is . . .

The Sprinkles of Life!  And it has a coordinating punch, too!  Bonus! This stamp set is this year’s Ronald McDonald House Charity stamp set.  That means that for every set sold, Stampin’ Up! will donate $3 to the RMHC.  Great stamp set with a great cause!  Here is a card I made today with this stamp set and it’s coordinating punch (I did fussy cut the cupcake wrappers)

Such a cute stamp set! You can stamp cupcakes, ice cream cones, trees and baskets.  Plus there are several sentiments, too.  It’s a must have set, in my opinion.signature2
