Tuesday Tools – Stampin’ Trimmer

I know what you are going to say, a trimmer is a trimmer.   What makes this one so special?trimmer

Well, I’ll tell you.  I’ve owned several trimmers over the years and can honestly say this one is my absolute favorite trimmer!  Here are some of the reasons for that statement:

  • It has a large base so I rarely need to use the arm extension to measure cuts or scores, but the extension arm is available for those occasional measurements.
  • The cutting track is a full 12 inches which means you do not need to remove either the cutting or scoring blade to cut or score a full 12 inches!  Love that!
  • There is a storage compartment on the back for extra blades – very handy as I can never find my extra blades in my craft room when I need them.  Now that’s NOT a problem.
  • The numbers are printed below a protective layer so they will not wear off over time.  That happened with previous trimmers so I’m really happy that this will be my last trimmer purchase.

I’ve had my Stampin’ Trimmer for several months now and have been so happy with it!  It’s so easy to get straight and accurate cuts.

Tuesday Tools – The Big Shot

What do you need to help you create amazing paper projects?  Join me on Tuesdays where I plan to reveal my top tools that help me in my own paper crafting adventures.

If you’ve been to any of my workshops, you know that my absolute favorite tool for paper crafting is my beloved Big Shot.  It is definitely an investment at $99.95, but since I use it on 99% of ALL of my paper crafting projects, I feel it is WELL worth that investment!

You can use dies and embossing folders from other die cutting manufacturers like Cuttlebug, Spellbinders and Quick Cuts so you are NOT limited to Sizzix dies!  Of course, I prefer the exclusive products Sizzix provides through Stampin’ Up!®  We have the BEST shapes and textures!

And depending on the type of die you are using, you can cut so many types of materials including fabric, felt, cork board, chip board and  metal sheets just to name a few.  So you can use this amazing tool for all of your crafting needs, not just paperLaughing.  Now that’s what I call getting more bang for your buck!

Most of the time I use my Big Shot with Textured Impressions Embossing Folders to add texture to my paper crafting projects.  I will talk about those folders in a future post so be sure to return.

Are you Color Challenged?

I know I can be most of the time.  So today I am going to share with you 2 ways to find color inspiration.

First, let me tell you about a website with seemingly unending suggestions, the My Create Color Lab.  Click here to go there now!  What I love about this site is you can try to create your own color combinations and see how they look together or simply choose from numerous combinations already there.

Second, and the one I use the most, is the Color Coach.

I am a “hand’s on” type of person so I prefer to flip through the colors with my own fingersLaughing.  On the back of these color cards are the color combination suggestions.

So whenever you find yourself wondering what colors to put together for your next project, why not use one of these ways to find some beautiful suggestions?  Of course you can always go with your own thoughts, too.  But why not make it easy on yourself?signature2
