My Dad collects Owls. So when I needed to make a card for his birthday this month, I HAD to use owls! And I love my Owl Builder Punch (118074) to create cute owls. I found an adorable window card using these owls at www.darlenedesign.com. They don’t look all that lively, do they? I thought putting eyelids on one of them would be cute, but he looks like he’s ready to fall asleep instead. When Darlene made the card, she used a wood background stamp, but I don’t have that. So I drew woodgrain lines with a marker, but I think it turned out good, right? I used the In Color Paper Stacks (117158) for the vests – those cute patterns look a bit festive, ready for a birthday party, if the middle one can stay awake . I used the 1-3/4″ Scallop Circle punch (119854) to create the Old Olive (100702) leaves, sponging them with Old Olive ink (102277) for added dimension. The party hats are stamped from a non-SU set I found dirt cheap at Tuesday Mornings, but I stamped them in Peach Parfait (119783), Poppy Parade (119782) and Concord Crush (119785) so they would match their friends’ festive vests. I stamped the greeting from Curly Cute (117014 – wood, 120510 – clear) in Chocolate Chip (100908) on a scrap piece of Whisper White (100730) and sponged in Old Olive. I curled the clipped ends and attached the greeting using Mini Glue Dots (103683) on the flat parts so it is waving off the card. For the inside, I adhered a piece of sky blue paper with a sentiment hidden behind the owls. I hope my Dad likes his card – I’m sure he will! This window type card is a bit time consuming, but so cute! I may try another design in the future, without the owls. Have any suggestions or ideas?
